Concert and literary gathering cafe
SUBJECT : WALLS AGAINST MEN
The migrants' crisis is on a major rise since last autumn. And it raises major issues.
THE WORLD IS TOO SMALL
SYLVAIN KASSAP, clarinets / BENJAMIN DUBOC, double bass / ALEXANDRA NOVOSSELOFF, photographs
Clarinetist Sylvain Kassap had the idea of this show when he discovered Alexandra Novosseloff's photographs in 2010. They already showed the increase of walls built around the world, the hatred and fear pulling men apart. He invented a music that went along these images to warn us. This artistic project is burning hot.
To provide input for a debate, the concert will be followed by a conference with :
NICOLAS JOUNIN. Sociologist. Author of "Voyages de classes" (published by la Découverte)
OLIVIER RAZAC. Philosopher, lecturer at Université Pierre Mendès-France in Grenoble. Author of "L'histoire politique du barbelé" (Flammarion)
CLAIRE RODIER. Legal expert at Gisti. Co-founder of the Migreurop network. Author of "Immigration : fantasmes et réalités" (la Découverte)
DOMINIQUE VIDAL. Journalist at Monde Diplomatique, author of many books about the Middle East conflict.
This event is jointly organized with the Ivry bookshop Envie de lire, getting together with our festival for the seventh successive time. During most of the concerts, Envie de lire will propose a range of books in harmony with the festival's program, such as, first and foremost, Afro-American culture which is, by the way, one of their area of specialization.
